Slow down
Six small rituals for the slow part of the day.
A massage hour. A temazcal under the trees. Two ice baths beside it. A pool that catches the afternoon light. A library full of soft chairs. A bonfire with cacao after dark.
Restoration is part of every stay
Massage
A trained therapist, an hour of quiet.
An hour of deep-tissue or Swedish massage with one of our resident therapists, in your bungalow or in the upstairs practice room. Aromatic oils pressed from the garden's plants, hot stones available on request, and the kind of silence that the bird calls only deepen.
USD 45 / hour · book at the front desk on arrival or by email in advance.
Temazcal
A traditional sweat lodge under the trees.
A wood-and-clay dome the size of a small chapel, heated by volcanic stones the keeper carries in glowing from the fire outside. Herbs from the garden — Andean muña, sweet basil, ruda — go onto the stones in cycles, and the room fills with a green steam you can almost lean on.
A purification practice with deep roots in the Andean and Amazonian traditions. Offered as part of retreat programs or by private arrangement for couples and small groups.
Two ice baths
Contrast bathing, the way the body remembers it.
Two cold-plunge pools tiled in deep green sit a few steps from the temazcal — the second half of the ritual. Heat, cold, heat, cold, the way the nervous system was designed to cycle. Two minutes in is plenty the first time. After a week you'll want longer.
Best paired with the temazcal · available for individual guests and groups.
Pool
A pool in the garden, all afternoon.
A swimming pool set into the lawn, surrounded by flowering ginger, heliconia, and the lagoon edge. Lounge chairs in the shade. The air sits at twenty-six degrees here through most of the year — the kind of climate the water was built for.
Open all day · towels provided in the bungalow.
Library
A gazebo with cozy lounge chairs.
A reading nook at the entrance of the property — several shelves of yoga, philosophy, and ecology titles, a sofa and three cosy papasan chairs under an outdoor gazebo. Borrow a book for the duration of your stay; leave one if you'd like.
Always open · take coffee in.
Bonfire + cacao
A fire, a cup of cacao, the canopy overhead.
An open fire on the property's lower terrace, paired with a small cacao ceremony led by one of the team. We melt down the ceremonial-grade beans we source from a cooperative one valley over, add chili and cinnamon, and pass cups in the firelight. A quiet way to close the evening.
For the group · arranged on request, day-of or in advance.
