Terms of Service
Last updated · May 2026
These terms govern the use of kantugardenlodge.com (the "Site") and any booking or reservation made with Kantu Garden Lodge ("we", "us"). By using the Site or making a booking, you agree to them.
1. Inquiries and bookings
At this stage, all reservations are made through inquiry. Send us your dates, group size, and the kind of stay you're planning. We will reply with availability, a quote, and bungalow recommendations. Once you confirm and pay the deposit, the booking is held.
Direct payment instructions and any applicable third-party booking engines will be communicated when relevant. We don't operate as a tour operator for third-party services beyond what's offered on the property and through our partners (excursions, transport).
2. Rates and inclusions
- Room rates are in Peruvian Soles (PEN), include breakfast and IGV (Peruvian sales tax).
- Retreat rates are in US Dollars (USD), per person per night, and include three vegetarian meals, water / tea / coffee, housekeeping, one welcome bonfire, and a welcome basket.
- Excursions, massages, ceremonies, airport transfers are quoted separately and added to your final invoice.
- Children under 4 stay free in a parent's room.
3. Deposit and balance
For confirmed reservations, a deposit of 30% of the total is required at booking. The balance is due no later than 14 days before arrival. For retreat group bookings (12+), terms may differ — a custom agreement will be provided.
4. Cancellation policy
- More than 30 days before arrival: full deposit refunded, less any third-party processing fees.
- 14 to 30 days before arrival: deposit retained; balance not required.
- Less than 14 days before arrival, or no-show: full amount due.
- Force majeure (natural disasters, government travel restrictions, road closures preventing access to Moyobamba): we will rebook your stay at no penalty, or refund the deposit in full.
- Group / retreat bookings follow a separate, signed agreement with custom cancellation milestones.
5. Check-in and check-out
Check-in from 1:00pm. Check-out by 12:00pm. Early check-in and late check-out are offered when the room schedule allows — please ask.
6. Conduct on the property
Kantu is a quiet, restorative property surrounded by garden and forest. We ask that guests:
- Respect quiet hours from 10:00pm to 7:00am.
- Refrain from smoking indoors, in the shala, or in the dining areas. Smoking is permitted only in designated outdoor zones.
- Do not pick or remove plants, flowers, or wildlife from the garden or surrounding forest.
- Keep amenities (cushions, props, towels) in the spaces they belong to.
- Respect staff and other guests.
We reserve the right to refuse service or end a stay (without refund) in cases of behavior that endangers staff, other guests, or the property.
7. Activities and risk
The lodge offers and / or arranges activities including yoga, ice baths, temazcal ceremonies, hikes, river canoeing, cycling, swimming, and birding excursions. These involve inherent risks. Participation is voluntary and at your own risk. We recommend you carry valid travel and medical insurance for the duration of your stay.
If you have a medical condition that may be affected by altitude, heat, cold-water immersion, or strenuous physical activity, please disclose it at the time of booking so we can advise you appropriately.
8. Pets and external food
Service animals are welcomed. We do not host other pets. Outside food and drink may be brought in, but please coordinate with the kitchen — many of our suppliers are local and traceable, and we'd rather you taste those.
9. Photography
We may photograph the property from time to time, including wide shots of yoga classes, group meals, and the gardens. We do not photograph guests close-up without permission. See the Privacy Policy for opt-out instructions.
10. Damage to the property
Guests are responsible for damage caused beyond ordinary wear. We will discuss any damage charges with you directly before billing them.
11. Intellectual property
All content on the Site — text, photography, video, logo — is the property of Kantu Garden Lodge or used under license. You're welcome to share photos of your own stay on social media; please credit the lodge when you do.
12. Disputes and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Peru. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through direct conversation will be submitted to the competent courts of Moyobamba, San Martín, Perú.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms; the version posted here at the time of your booking is the version that applies to your stay. Material changes will be communicated to confirmed bookings by email.
